The Hajj Agency owners have demanded the Prime Minister’s intervention to get the additional 11,000 pilgrim quota. They said that the Saudi government agreed to allocate Bangladesh extra quota this year.
They have claimed at the same time that the government and leaders of Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) are not sincere about collection of the quota. That is why they are not completing the process.
HAAB Coordination Council leaders said this while talking with The New Nation at Motijheel office on Thursday.
Convener Ruhul Amin Mintu, Hajj Umrah Agencies Welfare Association Convener Jamal Uddin Ahmed and HAAB Coordination Council Member -Secretary Rezaul Karim Uzzal, leader Kamal Hossain and other senior Hajj Agency owners were present at that time.
At present, Bangladesh’s has a quota of 1,01,758 pilgrims. If the extra quota of 11,000 pilgrims is added once, about 1,12,758 pilgrims will perform Hajj this year from Bangladesh, according to the Council leaders.
They claimed, the Saudi government already agreed to increase the quota by 11,000 from the vacant quota of Iran and Pakistan. But they have given condition of completing pilgrims sending process.
The officials of Religious Affairs Ministry and HAAB leaders are not collecting the quota as they would not get any scope of doing irregularity
in view of the High Court order. They must have to follow the court order of sending the pre-registered pilgrims only.
They have elaborated detailed about HAAB leader’s corruption, irregularities and human trafficking in the name of Hajj and Umrah.
In turn, the HAAB leaders said the Hajj agency owners are creating unstable situation or hampering the Hajj management system of the government.
The Religious Affairs Minister on Wednesday warned the Hajj Agency owners not to create any unstable situation. If anyone tries, they will be punished, he added.
