Chattogram City, north and south districts Awami League (AL) and its front organisations on Friday celebrated the 72nd birthday of its President and Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a simple manner.
To mark the day, Chittagong city AL organised a grand rally, discussion meeting at the central Shaheed Minar premises in the city this afternoon.
City AL and its front organisation brought out a grand rally on the occasion from central Shaheed Miner and concluded at the same venue after parading different important city streets at 4 pm on thatday.
The prominent citizens including educationalists, economists, writers, physicians and cultural personalities, participated the rally and wished Sheikh Hasina’s good health and long life.
They also hailed her as the “great daughter of the greatest Bengali of all time Bangabandhu” and a motherly figure.
Prior to rally, a cake was cut by city AL members followed by a discussion at the central Shaheed Miner.
Acting President of Chattogram city AL Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury presided over the function while Mayor of Chattogram city AL AJM Nasir Uddin, Chairman of Chattogram Development Authority Abdus Salam, AL leaders Adv Ibrahim Hossain Chowdhury, Babul, Bodiul Alam, Advocate Iftaker Saimul Chowdhury and panel mayor Hasan Mahmud Hasni, among others, participated the rally and addressed the function.
The speakers prayed for long life of Sheikh Hasina, who is continuing her relentless efforts to bring smiles on the faces of teeming millions by eradicating hunger, poverty and illiteracy.
Chittagong north district AL organised a discussion at Zila Parishad Auditorium this afternoon on the occasion of 72nd birthday of Sheikh Hasina.
Vice-President of Chattogram North district AL Jitendro Prasad Nath Montoo presided over the function while Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharrf Hossain, its General secretary MA Salam and leaders of different level AL addressed the function.
Engineer Mosharrf Hossain pointed out Sheikh Hasina’s achievement in driving the country towards economic emancipation and building a good image of Bangladesh in the world.
He highly lauded her role in fighting against terrorism and militancy.
Mosharrf also praised Hasina for freeing the nation from the disgrace of the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by bringing the killers to justice.
He urged the leaders and activists to shun all conflicts and propaganda against one another and work together to ensure victory of the ‘Boat’ in the next general election, whoever gets the party ticket in their constituency.
He said Bangladesh’s economy is now strong enough to implement at least 95 percent of its annual budget from its own resources. Needs of every district, upazila and union were given priority while preparing the annual budget.
Chattogram South District AL also organised separate discussion in their Andarkillah office with its President Muslem Uddin in the chair.
Special prayers were offered in all places of worships, including mosques, temple and monasteries, seeking her long life and sound health as well as continued peace and progress of the nation.
