PMO official’s signature forger handed over to police

The High Court on Wednesday handed over an accused, Karim Miah, a resident of Lalmonirhat district, to police in a case filed on charge of forging signature of the Assistant Military Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The HC Bench of Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar passed the order after rejecting his anticipatory bail petition in the case.
The court handed over him to the officials of
 Shahbagh Police Station. Police later sent him to jail, said Deputy Attorney General Mohammad Monirul Isalm.
Advocate Md Amzad Hossain appeared in the court on behalf of the bail seeker.
Monirul Islam also said, “Accused Karim Miah had forged the signature of an Assistant Military Secretary of PMO. Later a case was filed against him and two others. Although two accused were arrested in the case, Karim Miah was absconding.”
“In the meantime Karim Miah came to the HC to secure anticipatory bail. After holding hearing on his petition, the court rejected it and handed over him to the police,” added the State counsel.
Members of Highway Police on the night of February 14, 2020, stopped a bamboo-laden truck on Rangpur-Bogra Highway driver Md Azim Uddin and truck helper Md Motaleb Hossain told the police that the bamboos were being taken to PMO for raising stage for a State function.
The two also showed police a document said to be signed by an assistant military secretary of PMO. Later, police contacted the official and found that the signature was forged.
Azim and Motaleb said the truck owner Karim Miah had given them the document. Police afterwards filed the case against driver Md Azim Uddin, truck helper Md Motaleb Hossain and truck owner Karim Miah.
