Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has warned of legal steps against the government officials if they met BNP chief Khaleda Zia at her political office at Gulshan on Thursday night.
“Law will take its own course,” she said.
Her comments came at a media conference at Ganobhaban on Friday, a day after media reports claimed that Khaleda had a meeting with a group of government officials at her Gulshan office.
Sheikh Hasina was addressing the media on the recently concluded 18th SAARC summit and the just concluded Malaysia visit.
“If any government officials violated law by
attending a meeting, then legal steps will be taken against them,” she warned.
Meanwhile, the BNP had rubbished the media reports.
Hasina said such late night meetings usually gave rise to questions and recalled a meeting of bureaucrats at Mahmudur Rahman’s office in Uttara in 2006.
She wondered what the Thursday’s alleged meeting was all about.
