Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has warned of legal steps against government officials if they met BNP chief Khaleda Zia breaking the law. Her comments came at a media call on Friday, a day after reports claimed Khaleda had a meeting with a group of government officials at her Gulshan office. “Law will run its own course…” Hasina said. “If any government government official violated law by attending a meeting, then legal steps will be taken against them.” The BNP had rubbished the media reports but State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara said the government would look into the reports. Hasina said such late night meetings usually gave rise to questions and recalled a meeting of bureaucrats at Mahmudur Rahman’s office in 2006. She wondered what Thursday’s alleged meeting was all about. Hasina was addressing the media on the recently concluded 18th SAARC summit and her Malaysia visit.– bdnews24.com
