UNB, Dhaka :
Renewing her strong warning to BNP not to harm people in the name of a movement, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday said the BNP chairperson was losing ground beneath her feet.
“I saw the BNP chairperson threatening from a rally to wage a movement for ousting the government. But, had not she (Khaleda) seen that she is losing ground beneath her feet while waging a movement for ousting the government?” she questioned.
Hasina, also the President of the ruling Awami League, said this
while making her introductory speech at the central working committee meeting of her party held at her official residence Ganobhaban in the evening. The AL chief presided over the meeting.
Deputy Leader of the House Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, AL general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam and central working committee members attended the meeting.
She said, “Obviously, a befitting reply will be given to those who will try to cause harm to the people of Bangladesh. We’ll remain beside people for their welfare.”
The Prime Minister said when the whole country is celebrating the victory of Bangladesh at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and the Inter parliamentary Union (IPU), only those who had grabbed power illegally through killings, coup and conspiracy and then formed party are unhappy.
The AL chief also described Bangladesh victory in the CPA and IPU as a new history and a great achievement, and the victory of democracy.
Noting that the country’s people are now in peace and comfort both economically and socially, Hasina urged all to stay alert so that no one could foil this status as BNP-Jamaat movement is nothing but terrorist and militant act.
Citing the destructive acts of BNP-Jamaat including killing people, burning people to death, burning the copies of holy Quran before the January-5 polls, she said, “I hope people will identify those who had committed such crimes so that they cannot harm people anymore in the future.”
“We won’t allow them to kill people or burn them to death in the name of any movement. We won’t spare them easily and they (BNP-Jamaat) should know it,” the Prime Minister said reaffirming her commitment to keep the democratic process uninterrupted for the sake of the country’s socioeconomic development.
