Strike at Hili land port called off: PM to look into workers’ demands

Traders and Hili Land Port users of Hakimpur upazila on Thursday withdrew their indefinite strike following the assurance from the government to meet their demands.
The prime minister will look into the matter, said Shibli Sadiq, lawmaker of Dinajpur-6 constituency.
Abul Kashem, President of Hili Land Port C & F Agent Association, said on Wednesday, a five-member team, led by himself, met the premier at her office where she assured them of resolving the problem within two weeks.
Later, the decision to call off the strike came at a meeting at his office yesterday.
Meanwhile, the traders and port users threatened to go for fresh agitation if the demands were not met within the deadline.
On May 14, the port users called the strike to press home their three-point demand.
