PM to inaugurate DSA building in Rangpur today

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate virtually the newly constructed District Shilpokola Academy (DSA) building with ultramodern facilities today (Wednesday).
Officials of Rangpur district administration said the Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly constructed eight buildings of District Shilpokola Academies including in Rangpur virtually from an inaugural function at Ganabhaban today.
Apart from Ganabhaban, the inaugural function will also be attended by officials, political leaders, cultural figures and artists from Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Auditorium and Deputy Commissioners’ Offices of Narayanganj, Jamalpur, Moulvibazar, Pabna, Kushtia, Khulna, Manikganj and Rangpur.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Golam Rabbani and District Cultural Affairs’ Officer Nujhat Tabassum Rimu have inspected the newly constructed DSA building in Rangpur, reports BSS.
Earlier in March last, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid inspected the newly constructed DSA building in Rangpur.
Meanwhile, the look of the once neglected DSA premises on the Town Hall Square has completely changed creating an eye-catching attractive outlook all-around.
Centering the newly built building, cultural activities are going on the
Town Hall Square, which is famous for cultural activities, from morning till night with an increasing number of culture fans.
The new DSA building has been constructed spending Taka 27 crore 26 lakh
in Rangpur divisional city, widely known as a fertile ground for cultural
movement and practice for centuries.
Cultural artisans and organizers are overjoyed with the inauguration of
this newly built five-storey building with the state-of-the-art facilities.
The new building has been constructed on about 45 decimals of land next
 the old DSA building in the heart of Rangpur metropolis.
The Public Works Department (PWD) at the initiative of the Ministry of
Cultural Affairs and with the funding of Government of Bangladesh
(Development) has implemented the construction works.
 According to Rangpur PWD and DSA officials, the first and second floors
of the newly constructed building have a spacious auditorium with 500 seats.
The building has a car park in the basement, a conference room and art
gallery on the first floor, a cafeteria on the second floor, a library on the
third floor and a well-furnished dormitory on the fourth floor.
 Apart from this, there are classrooms, office rooms, trainers’ rooms and
other rooms and various facilities including the latest sound system on
different floors of the building.
As soon as people enter this new building, they will see beautiful
terracotta highlighting historical establishments of Rangpur like Tajhat
Zamindar Bari, Zila Parishad Bhaban, Town Hall, Haribhanga Mango and bullock cart, ‘Ektara’, ‘Dotara’, Flute and other folk and cultural heritages.
 After completion of the construction works of the building, several test
cultural activities have been conducted there successfully.
Presently, the DSA has 12 contract-basis teachers for various subjects
and 300 students are undergoing training in music, dance, acting, ‘Tabla’,
fine arts and recitation there.
 Adjacent to the newly constructed DSA building, there are offices of 18
promising literary, drama and other cultural organizations in the premises of
the famous Town Hall Square.
Talking to media, noted cultural personality Dr. Mofizul Islam Mantu said
that many cultural organizations have been practicing in this Town Hall
Square premises for a long time.
“We hoped that this divisional city would have a modern art building. Our
dream has finally come true. We believe that the new DSA building, built as
pledged by the Prime Minister, will give life to the cultural workers,” he
said.
 “This gift of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will further accelerate the
efforts for the practice, development, spread and nurture of Bengali culture
in Rangpur region,” he added.
Noted cultural personality, researcher and educationist Professor
Mohammad Shah Alam said the new building of the DSA would speed up the
cultural activities in Rangpur.
District Cultural Affairs’ Officer Nujhat Tabassum Rimu said the newly
built building of the District Shilpokola Academy would definitely add a new
dimension to nurturing and flourishing the culture of the people of Rangpur
division.
Bangladesh Betar to
air Chhayanaut’s prog
live on Pahela Baishakh

Marking the national celebration of Bangla Nababarsha, widely known as Pahela Baishakh-1429, Chhayanaut will organize a function at Ramna Botmul in the city on Thursday at 8.15am.
The programme will be broadcast live on Bangladesh Betar’s medium wave 819 KHz, FM 106.0 MHz and Traffic Broadcasting Programme 88.8 MHz via DSNG or BTCL line, said a handout.
Also, people can listen to the live broadcast from the official Bangladesh Betar website- www.betar.gov.bd and mobile app, reports BSS.
At the same time, the programme will be relayed simultaneously on the medium wave and the corresponding FM band of all the regional stations of Bangladesh Betar.
