UNB, Dhaka :
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday swiped at Dr Kamal Hossain again for his stance against the uncontested winning of MPs in the last election saying that he also got elected unopposed once.
“There’s one person who is against the uncontested win of MPs. He (Dr Kamal) was elected uncontested in 1970 in the seat which was vacated by Bangabandhu,” she said.
The Prime Minister was replying to a question at a press conference about her recent China tour at her official residence Ganobhaban.
Hasina, without mentioning anyone’s name, said
the person who was involved with the formulation of the country’s constitution. “Once he used to feel proud of saying that he wrote the Constitution. We hold elections in the country as per that Constitution,” she said.
Although the government held the last election as per that Constitution, that person (Dr Kamal) does not like it, the Prime Minister added.
About the civil society’s attitude, Hasina said this section of society does not like democracy as they feel that they have no importance when there is a democratic government in the country.
“When there’s a democratic government, they don’t have any importance. They have a high demand when there is a military dictator or usurper in the country,” she said.
