Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday spent memorable time with the country’s leading poets, litterateurs, writers, journalists, academics, artists and intellectuals as she arranged a “tea party” for them at her Ganobhaban residence here.
The lush green lawn of Ganabhaban resonated with the presence of a huge
number of the celebrities in the late afternoon and evening.
The function started at about 4.40 pm as the Prime Minister came to the Ganabhaban south lawn wearing a cream coloured saree dotted with design. The programme continued for about three hours with a 10-minute break for Maghrib prayers.
Sheikh Hasina, also the elder daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, talked to the celebrated personalities and enquired about their wellbeing by walking up to them.
She spent a few memorable moments with the country’s renowned persons by gossiping with them and enjoying patriotic and folk songs and poems sung and recited by some artistes.
Sheikh Rehana, younger daughter of Bangabandhu, also joined the function with her elder sister and talked to the celebrities and enquired about their wellbeing.
The country’s leading singers and poets enthralled the audience by rendering songs and reciting poems on a decorated dais set up on the southeast corner of Ganobhaban.
Accompanied by Sheikh Rehana, Sheikh Hasina enjoyed some beautiful songs and poems at the cultural function sitting on the lush green Ganobhaban lawn.
