UNB, Dhaka :
Criticising the United Nations for its failure to take effective steps against Israel aggression in Gaza, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday lamented as the OIC and Arab League have failed to effectively protest the offensive.
She came up with the criticisms when a four-member visiting women delegation of Iranian parliament, led by Fatemeh Rahbar, met her at the PM’s
official residence Ganabhaban in the evening.
PM’s press secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters after the meeting.
He said the cabinet in Bangladesh has already adopted a resolution denouncing and protesting the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip.
“Those who are very much active about human rights around the world are now silent. The United Nations are not taking effective steps either,” she said.
Laying emphasis on having a permanent solution to Gaza problems, the Prime Minister said the OIC and Arab League did not protest the aggression effectively.
“This is not acceptable that Israel will occupy the lands of Gaza. One day the justified right of the Palestinians will be established,” Hasina asserted.
Fatemeh Rahbar said the Prime Minister of Bangladesh could play an effective and important role in stopping the killing of women and children in Gaza. “As the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is a woman and able statesperson she could play an important role in this regard.”
