Staff Reporter :
The BNP on Wednesday has admonished Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to take lessons from the US presidential election.
“Democrats are still in power in the United States of America, but the Republicans triumph in Presidential election. There was no muscle power but reflection of the public opinion. Sheikh Hasina should take lessons from all those and that would be better for her.” said BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi while addressing a press briefing at the party’s Naya Paltan office. “We are known to what the activists of the ruling party and its associate bodies do across the country. “Students like Khadiza and Mim were attacked by Chhatra League and Jubo League men. They also beat the minority community members, ransacked their houses and worshiping centers,” he observed. On the issue of the BNP’s 7th November rally at Suhrawardy Udyan, Rizvi said, “We have sought permission to hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on November 13 (Sunday). We hope, the administration would give us permission. The government should not hinder our democratic programme.” Rizvi said that, they had already completed all the necessary preparations for holding their rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on November 13.
He said that, they on Tuesday sought permission from both the Public Works Department and Dhaka Metropolitan Police for using the venue for the rally.
The BNP will hold rally marking the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’ at 2 pm on that day, he added.
