PM sets rare example giving houses to homeless: Indira

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nesa Indira on Thursday said Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina has set a unique example in the history of the country by providing houses to the homeless people.
“PM Sheikh Hasina has set a unique example in the history of the country by gifting houses to the homeless. Out of 69,904 landless-families, 66,189 were provided with houses,” she said.
She was speaking virtually from Bangladesh Shishu Academy auditorium in the city as the chief guest at a function to award the best-winners of ‘Joyeeta’ of Mymensingh and Barishal divisions.
Mymensingh Divisional Commissioner Md Kamrul Hasan and Barishal Divisional Commissioner Amitabh Sarkar presided over the virtual programme at their respective ends, an official press release said here.
The state minister said while providing accommodation to the homeless or landless people, the houses have been deeded in the name of the concerned husband and wife jointly, which has ensured rights, protection and proper partnership of women.
She further said that the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs is providing training in various trades for the employment of women aiming to develop them as entrepreneurs.
Lauding the PM and the incumbent government for their endeavor in building ‘Digital Bangladesh’, she said that using digital technology in digital Bangladesh, women have made a revolution in e-commerce and small business.
She said the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has set up the women-friendly shopping centers to spread ‘Joyeeta’ across the country.
With the special efforts of the Prime Minister, Bangladesh managed to receive the Covid-19 vaccine as soon as possible, said Indira.
