Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought more Japanese investment in the Special Economic Zone allocated for Japan in Bangladesh.
The Prime Minister came up with the request during a bilateral meeting with her Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe at the UN Headquarters on the sidelines of the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Monday.
PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting. The Japanese Prime Minister said the cooperation between the two countries has improved at bilateral and multilateral levels following his visit to Bangladesh.
Abe highly praised Bangladesh’s achievements in MDGs, and said Bangladesh and Japan will work together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The two leaders also discussed the progress of the mega projects to be implemented in Bangladesh with support from Japan.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shariar Alam and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Dipu Mini were present.
