PM seeks more investment from China

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday sought more investment from China for ensuring Bangladesh’s gigantic development.
“China is our major development partner which is investing and channeling more money in Bangladesh. Despite that we need more investment from China for our gigantic development,” she said.
The Prime Minister came up with the request when newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ma Mingqiang paid a courtesy call on her at her official residence Ganobhaban in the evening.

AKM Shameem Chowdhuri briefed reporters. Responding to the Prime Minister’s request about investment, the Chinese envoy said the Chinese entrepreneurs are very much enthusiastic to invest in Bangladesh. “But they need more information to this end from Bangladesh,” he said.
About the China- Bangladesh Joint Working Taskforce, the ambassador said it is working very well.
While talking about the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) Economic Corridor, he put emphasis on development of infrastructure to boost the connectivity among the four countries.
The Prime Minister said tourism could be a good joint venture between Bangladesh and China.
In reply, Mingqiang said China can use and develop Cox’ Bazar sea beach, the longest in the world, for promotion of tourism in Bangladesh.
“We can also exploit the resources found in Cox’s Bazar beach,” he said. The Prime Minister also sought assistance from China for infrastructural development of the Paira Seaport in Patuakhali.
