Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday sought more financial assistance from China to make the country free from poverty and hunger.
“We hope to get more financial support from China to build Bangladesh as a hunger- and poverty-free country,” she said.
Hasina expressed the high hope when outgoing Chinese Ambassador Li Jun met her at her office (PMO).
PM’s press secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters after the meeting.
He said the Prime Minister thanked the Chinese government for its continued assistance for Bangladesh’s socioeconomic development, especially the infrastructure sector.
Hasina hoped that the bilateral relations between Dhaka and Beijing would be further strengthened during the days ahead.
The Chinese envoy highly appreciated Bangladesh’s stunning success in the socioeconomic field. “It has been possible due to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s able leadership.”
He said, Chinese investment in Bangladesh would be increased further in the days to come.
Li Jun said Bangladesh-China bilateral ties have been consolidated further during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s rule. “During the period,
the highest Chinese investment was made in Bangladesh,” he said.
He informed the Prime Minister that the Chinese government would soon publish the activities of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during his visits to China in 1952 and 1957 in Chinese language.
“We would also translate the book ‘Asamapata Atmajiboni’ (Unfinished Memoirs) of Bangabandhu into Chinese language,” he added.
