PM seeks more Chinese assistance, investment

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday sought more financial assistance and investment from China for Bangladesh’s overall development.
Hasina made the request when special envoy of the Foreign Ministry of China Chai Xi met her at her official residence Ganabhaban.
The Chinese envoy also said his country wants to strengthen the bilateral relations with Bangladesh and provide more assistance. “China is very much keen to help Bangladesh for its economic development,” he said.

reporters after the meeting. He said Chai Xi highly appreciated Bangladesh’s remarkable development in all sectors, and hoped it will be able to achieve more progress under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s pragmatic and dynamic leadership.
Terming the people of Bangladesh as intelligent and hard-working ones, the Chinese special envoy said Bangladesh now needs stability and peaceful atmosphere to achieve more progress fast.
He also appreciated Bangladesh’s support towards Chinese initiative for regional development.
Chai Xi informed the Prime Minister that Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong will visit Bangladesh on May 24-26 to participate in the celebration programmes of the 40 years bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. Hasina hoped that the Chinese President and the Prime Minister will come to Bangladesh to participate in the programmes.
In reply, the Chinese special envoy said the Chinese Prime Minister would visit Bangladesh in September to participate in the programmes.
