Stating various components of socioeconomic development model, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday called upon the global leaders to ensure women empowerment, quality of infrastructure development and mitigate climate change impacts.
She also urged the developed countries to be more generous in technology transfer, resource mobilisation and capacity building of other countries for overcoming the challenges towards implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Prime Minister came up with the remarks in her statements delivered in the outreach meeting of the G7 Summit held at Shima Kanko Hotel at Kashikjima Island here on Friday.
PM’s Principal Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim and Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque briefed reporters after the programme.
They said the Prime Minister identified four areas-quality infrastructure, healthcare services, women empowerment and climate change-relating to socioeconomic development in the outreach meeting with G7 Summit.
Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque said Sheikh Hasina urged the world leaders to give emphasis on women in policies and politics to ensure their rights and dignity in society as well health issues to achieve universal health coverage.
Sheikh Hasina participated in the summit for the second time after 2001. “It’s an acknowledgement of her global image of economies and ability to move forward the country at a very crucial time, “the Foreign Secretary said.

Barrack Obama, formally and informally on global and regional issues.
Hasina projected her opinions and her government’s achievements, including women empowerment, environment protection and healthcare services for the common people.
At the very beginning of the outreach meeting, the world leaders highly appreciated various achievements of Bangladesh, including attaining of 7 percent GDP growth rate despite global economic recession.
On women empowerment, Sheikh Hasina stressed on three matters, including giving women importance in policymaking, ensuring their development through ‘one house one farm’ project of her government and ensuring the rights and dignity of the women folk.
The Foreign secretary said apart from women empowerment, the Prime Minister discussed the issues of quality infrastructure development and climate change like a global leader.
Referring to the ensuring of healthcare services of the common people through community clinics, Hasina said Bangladesh would be champion in attaining the SDGs as it did in case of attaining the MDGs.
About the women empowerment, the Prime Minister in the context of 2030 sustainable development agenda, called for giving priority on women’s participation and empowerment at national level, their financial emancipation and their rights and dignity in the society.
PM’s Principal Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad said the G7 leaders took the issue of poverty eradication as a big agenda following raising the issue in the G7 summit in 2001 by Sheikh Hasina.
