Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday paid rich tributes to Brigadier General Shaheed Jamil Uddin Ahmed, Bir Uttam, the military secretary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on the occasion of his 40th martyrdom anniversary.
On behalf of the Prime Minister, her Military Secretary Major General Mian Mohammad Zainul Abedin placed a floral wreath at the grave of Shaheed Jamil Uddin at Banani Graveyard here, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS.
Shaheed Jamil, the then colonel and military secretary to President Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was killed by the disgruntled army soldiers near Sobhanbagh Mosque on the fateful morning of August 15 in 1975 on his way to Dhanmondi Road No. 32 to save the life of the Father of the Nation.
The Awami League government gave promotion of Brigadier General (posthumously) to Shaheed Jamil in 2010 recognising his outstanding sense of duty and appropriate worthiness.
