Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday expressed deep shock at the death of two female police constables in a road accident and a child in a fire incident in the city.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed her deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
On Sunday morning, two policewomen were killed and at least 20 others injured as a truck crashed into a bus carrying female police personnel at the city’s Fakirapul intersection.
The deceased were identified as constables Mamuni Khantun Manira, 20, and Aklima, 22.
In another incident, a minor girl was burned alive and 400 shanties were gutted as a slum caught fire at Battala in Katasur in the city.
The fire broke out at a shanty of Pulpar Basti (slum) in the area around 8:28 am and soon engulfed the entire slum, killing the little girl, Fatema.
