BNP on Wednesday alleged that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina spread lies about its chairperson in parliament by saying Khaleda Zia was not confined and accusing her of indulging in killing during the blockade programme. In a statement, BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “The Prime Minister has lied to the nation by saying that Khaleda Zia was not besieged despite confining her to her office by deploying huge law enforcers and keeping trucks loaded with bricks, sand and timbers around it.”He continued: “The Prime Minister has also resorted to another lie by saying Khaleda Zia will be brought to justice as she is killing people by enforcing blockade programme across the country.”Rizvi also strongly protested Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s assertion that Khaleda Zia to be tried as a murderer. He alleged that the government through establishing a one-party rule in the country is carrying out acts of sabotage in a planned way to shift the blame onto the opposition. “They (govt) are also strictly controlling the media.” The BNP leader alleged that the law enforcers are regularly arresting opposition men and killing them in the name of ‘so-called gunfight’.Criticising State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Rizvi alleged that the minister is backing the law enforcers to carry out extrajudicial killings. “It seems he (Kamal) is playing the role of Hitler’s cohort Nazi Eichmann,” he observed. The BNP leader urged his party men to be vocal against the government’s brutal repressive acts.He also called upon the leaders and activists of the 20-party alliance to continue the movement, including the ongoing blockade, until the people’s voting right is restored.
