The able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and effective steps taken by her government have turned Bangladesh into a middle income country and by 2014 it is going to have the status of a developed one.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Alhaj Mashiur Rahman Ranga MP said this on Monday at a post-rally discussion in the inaugural ceremony of the three-day ‘Development Fair- 2015’ in the city. Earlier, he led a huge colourful rally, participated by officials and employees of different government departments, teachers, students, youths, educationists, politicians, public representatives and civil society members in the city.
After leading the rally from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the State Minister formally inaugurated the fair by releasing balloons at the fair venue on the Town Hall premises.
The district administration is organising the fair to focus the effective steps taken by the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in advancing the nation through speeding up socio-economic developments. The State Minister also visited the 36 stalls set up by different government departments and organisations in the fair demonstrating the government successes achieved in various sectors.
Later, he attended the post-rally discussion at Town Hall auditorium as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Md. Rahat Anwar in the chair.
Acting President of district Awami League (AL) and Zila parishad Administrator Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju and Office Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, city AL President Shafiur Rahman Shafi and its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal addressed the discussion as special guests.
The speakers lauded effective steps taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in attaining massive developments in every sector and millennium development goals that has taken the nation to a newer height of dignity. In the fair, reality shows and cultural evenings are being arranged daily to focus the true national history, War of Liberation and socio-economic developments achieved by the present government.
