Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived here from Montreal, Canada to attend the 71st UN General Assembly (UNGA).
An Air Canada flight, carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage, landed at La Guardia Airport of New York at 3 pm on Saturday (Local time). Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States Mohammad Ziauddin, Permanent Representative to the UN Masud Bin Momen received the Prime Minister at the airport.
After the reception at the airport, Hasina was escorted by ceremonial motorcade to Hotel
Waldorf Astoria, New York where she will be residing during her New York visit. On September 19, the Bangladesh Prime Minister will deliver the country’s statement at a high-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly on Addressing Large Movements of Refugees and Migrants at the UN headquarters.
She will co-chair Roundtable 5, titled ‘Global Compact for Safe, Regular and Orderly Migration: Towards Realizing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Achieving Full Respect for the Human Rights of Migrants’, of the meet.
