Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Railway and local legislature of Raozan constituency ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP received golden award for clinching best upazila across the country in tree plantation last year.
Raozan upazila became first positi8on in tree plantation in last year. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over crest of golden award to the legislator of Raozan on wednesday while inaugurating the World Environment Day programmes and Environment Fair-2018 at a function at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the government has taken all necessary steps for conservation of the biodiversity of the Sundarbans and protect the Royal Bengal Tiger inhabiting in the long mangrove forests.
She said most of the rivers around the mangrove forests dried up due to shrimp hatchery over the years since 1975. But most of those sweet water rivers were excavated, making their operational, and dredging of other rivers
is going on.
Mentionable that in 2017, a total of 4 lakh 85 thousand 40 saplings of different species were planted in Raozan upazila area within on hour with the active supervision of the MP Fazle Karim. as an innovative ideas of the legislator for turning green Bangladesh. Ministry of environment, forest and climate change selected Raozan upazila as a best upazila of the country in tree plantation.
Earlier Fazle Karim MP received national award in agriculture including Bangabandu Padak for two times.
As a part of turning Raozan as Pink, Green and Clean city , near about five lakhs saplings were planted on July 25 last year within one hour. As a recognitions to the initiatives of the law maker,govt honoured Fazle Karim MP with Honouary Crest and Award as well as this unprecedented records of plantation is waiting at the door of Genes Book record. While contacted the lawmaker told this correspondent that ” I am highly proud of receiving the best Upazila Award for Raozan.
