PM Hasina awakens world conscience about Rohingyas: Chief Whip

Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Chief Whip ASM Feroze on Saturday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has awakened the world conscience about the Rohingya issue in a bid to resolve the crisis.
“Sheikh Hasina urged the world leaders to create pressure on Myanmar for repatriating the Rohingyas, taken shelter in Bangladesh. Responding to her call, they have already condemned the genocide (in Myanmar),” a press release quoted the Chief Whip as telling a discussion in the city on Saturday.
Asia Chinnamul Manobadhiker Bastobayon Foundation (ACMBF) organized the discussion on ‘Rohingya Genocide’ at Bangladesh Shishu Kollyan Parishad auditorium.
Feroze said the Myanmar military has been killing innocent people, including children and women, indiscriminately at the Rakhine state of the country. More than 400,000 Rohingyas have fled to Bangladesh in face of persecution, he added.
ACMBF Chairman Md Dulal Miah presided over the function while Awami League Advisory Council Member Yousuf Hossain Humayun, Justice Siddiqur Rahman, Language Movement veteran Abdul Jalil, Cox’s Bazar Development Authority Chairman Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Forkan Ahmmad and ACMBF advisor Poet Muhammad Abdul Khalek addressed the discussion as special guests.
Central President of Bangabandhu Gobeshona Parishad Lion Gani Mia Babul inaugurated the function.
The ACMBF also celebrated the 74th birthday of Poet Muhammad Abdul Khalek, held an oath taking ceremony for human rights workers and a publication festival of a magazine named ‘Kashtipathar’.
