Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday handed over cheques for Tk 4 crore for setting up three burn tanks and a 100-bedded separate burn ward at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The Prime Minister handed over the cheques for the amount to NIBPS Project Director Prof Dr Abul Kalam at her Sangsad Bhaban office.
PM’s Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri briefed reporters after the cheque handover ceremony.
Of the amount, Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) donated Tk 2 crore while Exim Bank Limited Tk 1 crore and IFIC Bank Ltd donated the rest Tk 1 crore.
The money donated by the DBBL and Exim Bank would be spent for setting up three burn tanks while that of the IFIC Bank for constructing the 100-bedded ward at the NIBPS, the press secretary said.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman and Deputy Governor SK Sur Chowdhury, Honorary Advisor of NIBPS Dr Samanta Lal Sen, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Secretary General Dr Iqbal Arsnal, DBBL Chairman Shahabuddin Ahmed and Managing Director KS Tabrez and Managing Director of IFIC Bank Ltd Shah Alam Sarwar were, among others, present at the function.
