Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday extended her warm felicitations to Doris Leuthard on her appointment as the President of the Swiss Confederation.
“I have great pleasure in extending to you my warm felicitations on your appointment as the President of the Swiss Confederation,” the premier said in a congratulatory message.
The Bangladesh prime minister said she sincerely believes that the bonds of friendship, understanding and cooperation that exist between Bangladesh and Switzerland would further be strengthened and expanded during her tenure in the office.
“I look forward to working closely with you to realize the full potential of our relations,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina also wished Leuthard good health, happiness and success and the people of Swiss Confederation peace, progress and prosperity in the New Year 2017.
Doris Leuthard was elected the president of the Swiss Confederation on December 7 last for 2017.
The Swiss presidency changes each year, rotating through the seven-member Federal Council, the Swiss executive, or cabinet.
