Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has donated Taka
42.35 lakh to critically ill eminent film director Amjad Hossain for his treatment abroad.
“The Prime Minister gave Taka 22.35 lakh as air ambulance fare and Taka 20
lakh as treatment costs to the family of ‘Ekushey Padak’-winning film director
Amjad Hossain at Ganabhaban here on Sunday evening,” PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokan told BSS.He said Amjad Hossain’s son Sohel Arman received two separate cheques in this regard from the Prime Minister.
General Secretary of Directors Guild and noted filmmaker SA Hoque Olik was present on the occasion.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina assured that she will bear all medical treatment costs including air ambulance fare for better treatment of Amjad Hossain abroad.
PM’s Protocol Officer Khurshid-ul-Alam on Saturday conveyed the Prime Minister’s decision to this end to the family of Amjad Hossain. When contacted, SA Hoque Olik said they sent latest medical reports of Amjad Hossain to the authorities of Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok on Sunday. “If physical condition of Amjad Hossain allows him to fly to Bangkok, he will be taken there as soon as possible,” Olik said. Amjad Hossain’s son Sohel Arman told BSS on Saturday that their family has taken all preparations to send Amjad Hossain to Bangkok by an air ambulance for his better treatment there.
“Our father will undergo medical treatment at Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok,” he added.
