UNB, New York :
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reiterated her call to world leaders for revisiting the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) to ensure the access for people to key technologies for global sustainable growth.
“The Existing IPR regime needs to be revisited so that people can access key technologies related to agriculture and food security, health and waste management,” she said while addressing an interactive dialogue on sustainable economic growth at the UN Headquarters on Saturday.
In her opening remarks, Sheikh Hasina said she is encouraged with the adoption of a ‘pro-people and pro-planet’ agenda by the UN General Assembly and promises made for inclusive development for all.
“Now, we must materialise the expectations of our people. Many of our countries need the resources to implement our collective commitments. At the same time we must address the issues related to enabling environment at global level,” she said. Sheikh Hasina along with her Belgian counterpart Charles Michel co-chaired the interactive dialogue on ‘Fostering Sustainable Economic Growth and Transformation and Promoting Sustainable Consumption and Production’ held on the sidelines of the UNGA-70th session.
In their discussions, heads of states and government provided their inputs for smooth implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda (SDGs) over the next 15 years.
