Expressing wonder over the expenditure of Tk 20 crore for the food and accommodation of doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the authorities concerned to take action through an investigation into the matter.
She came up with the directive while delivering her winding-up speech in parliament’s ongoing budget session.
The Prime Minister said the government has been bearing the food, accommodation and transport costs of all the doctors, nurses and health workers engaged in providing treatment to corona patients.
She said the expenditure of Tk 20 crore that has been shown as the food and accommodation costs of DMCH’s doctors seems unusual. “We’re investigating the matter.”
She hoped that the new budget will help the economy stay afloat overcoming the corona situation.
The Prime Minister said her government will continue its zero tolerance against corruption to maintain the pace of development.”
“We’ve to have a goal. Corona has stalled everything. But we’re always optimistic that we’ll overcome this situation. But we need to be prepared for what we’ll do in the future if the situation improves. That’s why we have placed an ambitious budget. I hope we’ll be able to implement it,” she said.
