Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has cancelled her upcoming official visit to New Zealand. Her visit, scheduled between March 11-14, would have been the first ever by a head of government between the two countries.
A senior official at the foreign ministry told bdnews24.com the prime minister cancelled the visit due to the current political situation.
The opposition BNP and its allies are enforcing a violent nationwide transport blockade and a series of shutdowns, marking the first anniversary of last year’s parliamentary elections that it had boycotted on January 5.
More than 100 people
