UNB, Gazipur :
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday announced she would go back to her ancestral village of Tungipara in Gopalganj to spend her retirement there. Not that she is going on retirement yet.
“I’ll go back to my own village to stay there when I go on retirement. It is my decision,” she said after enjoying a cultural programme at the Ansar and VDP Academy in Shafipur under Gazipur district.
The cultural event was arranged as part of the 39th National Rally of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP). Pointing at some children performing a dance routine on a boat during the cultural
programme, the Prime Minister said it reminded her of her childhood in Tungipara.
She recalled her grandfather had owned a similarly big boat with two rooms that had windows through which she used to touch the water.
The Prime Minister reminisced how she and her younger brother Sheikh Kamal used to frolic on the roof of the boat. “So whenever I see this type of boat, it always reminds me of my childhood.”
The Prime Minister termed the cultural soiree of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP as ‘excellent’, saying that she enjoyed it very much.
