Plot corruption case against Abbas postponed

The High Court Appellate Division has been upheld the land related corruption case proceedings against BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas.
On December 14, the court stopped the case over corruption in allotting land plot for three months.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had challenged the decision.
An Appellate Division Bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Monday.
Advocate Jainul Abedin represented the former Housing and Works Minister, while
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was represented by Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan.
Khurshid Alam said, “Mirza Abbas lodged an appeal at the court appealing for the dismissal of the case; the court dismissed the plea and later, an appeal was made to postpone the verdict.”
The draft watchdog lodged a case in 2014 against Mirza Abbas accusing him of embezzling over Tk 155.25 million.
The chargesheet was submitted against Abbas and four others on February 11, 2015.
