Players of Bangladesh National Cricket team took part at the practice session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the city’s Mirpur on Friday. The team will also participate at the practice session at the SBNCS on Saturday. Members of Bangladesh Cricket team will leave the city for Sri Lanka on Sunday to take part in the Nidahas Trophy. Hosts Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India will compete in the Tri-Nation Twenty20 Cricket Tournament.
Nidahas Trophy will start on March 6 between Sri Lanka and India at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Bangladesh will face India in their first match at the same venue on March 8.
Earlier, BCB announced the 16-member Bangladesh squad for the ensuing Nidahas Trophy.
Bangladesh squad: Shakib Al Hasan (Captain), Mahmudullah Riyad, Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Imrul Kayes, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Abu Hider, Abu Jayed, Ariful Haque, Nazmul Islam, Nurul Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraz.
Injured Shakib Al Hasan could not take part in the first match. In that case Mahmudullah Riyad will lead the squad.
Riyad, Tamim Iqbal, Sabbir Rahman and Mustafizur Rahman are taking part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) now in United Arab Emirates (UAE). They will join the squad in Colombo from UAE.
Nidahas Trophy fixture: Sri Lanka vs India (March 6); Bangladesh vs India (March 8); Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh (March 10); India vs Sri Lanka (March 12); India vs Bangladesh (March 14); Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka (March 16) and Final on March 18.
