The director general of the border guard Bangladesh urged upon the border security forces to play an effective role for the socio-economic development of the bordering people along side the tight security of the border at any cost.
It will help check the smuggling form and to neighboring countries and improve the law and order in the bordering areas. The people of the area will have to come forward to assist their utmost cooperation towards the border forces. Said, the DG Aziz Ahmed in his speech as the chief guest in a sharing meeting with the bordering people, insolvent citizens and media activists at newly constructed office of the BGB 58 Battalion at Khalishpur under bordering Moheshpur upazila on Monday afternoon.
The director general distributed sewing machine, shallow machine for irrigation water supply in crop fields, locally assembled three wheelers and some other inputs among some 23 persons of the bordering areas of Kushtia, Meherpur and Jhenaidah.
The BGB chief said, some of the under privileged and ultra poor people of the bordering areas become the victim of the carrier of the smuggled goods against a negligible figure of money and damaging the national economy. But they can contribute a lot in nation development activities if they are guided in write truck.
Considering the situation the border guard has taken the project Samriddhir Pothe Simanta (The border towards an up-liftment) in the bordering areas. It will reduce the smuggling and also reduce the untoward incidents like killing and injury in border areas. The BGB has also taken initiatives to establish Simanta Banks (Border Bank) in bordering areas which will strengthen the financial base of the bordering people, the DG said.
Arranged by BGB 46 sector office of Kushtia, Regional Commander of the BGB south-west region, sector commanders of Kushtia and Khulna and other areas were present.
Deputy commissioner of Jhenaidah Mahbubul Alam Talukder, SBK union parishad chairman Sazzad Hossain and a bordering people Rabiul Islam among others spoke.
The director general inaugurated a number of structures at the BGB battalion area at Khaluishpur.
