‘Cutter Master’ Mustafizur Rahman said on Wednesday, ” To play against Lanka depends on the Almighty. I depend on Allah to play against Sri Lanka. I shall try my level best to perform against Lanka but everything depends on the Almighty.” He talked to the journalists during the practice session.
Best ODI all-rounder of world cricket Shakib Al Hasan and left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman with the preliminary squad of Bangladesh took part in the practice session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Wednesday.
The ace all-rounder and the left-arm pacer returned to Bangladesh recently from India as the Indian Premier League (IPL) was postponed due to deadly coronavirus outbreak.
After arriving Dhaka Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman had to take 13-day quarantine (One day was reduced by the Health Ministry) at the two separate city hotels.
If everything goes well Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman will be included in the final squad. The three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka will start from May 23. So, Shakib and Mustafiz will get only three days to participate in practice.
It may be mentioned that Mustafizur Rahman played for Rajasthan Royal in IPL and showed a satisfactory performance.
The Fizz said, ” Shakib Bhai and I will get only three days to take part in the training programme. Yesterday we could not get full-fledged training programme due to heavy rain.”
When asked Mustafiz about the strength of Sri Lanka team, Mustafizur Rahman said, ” The strength of Sri Lanka and the strength of Bangladesh is same. In this time the teams, which come to play here are not tiny. I don’t underestimate them. But we want to win.”
“We won many matches at home, so we shall get advantage here. The last two years we have to take in bio-secure bubble environment and to maintain the system is really a tough task.”
