Staff Reporter :
A fire broke out in a plastic mat factory of Gazirchat area of Ashulia in Dhaka district on Tuesday morning.
However, no casualty was reported in the blaze that erupted around 10:30am in the plastic manufacturing factory.
At least four teams of Fire Service and Civil Defense managed to doused the blaze of the Hitech Plastic Factory in about two hours of frantic efforts.
The amount of losses caused by the fire could not be ascertained immediately.
Witnesses said, some workers of Hitech Plastic Factory spotted smoke
coming out from its godown in the morning and informed local fire fighting unit. The fire soon spread into the whole factory although locals and the workers initially tried in vain to extinguish the fire with water from nearby some ponds.
A total of five fire units from Ashulia DEPZ and Dhamrai rushed to the spot and they finally managed to douse the blaze in about two hours of frantic efforts.
Hitech Plastic Factory’s Managing Director Abdur Rahim alleged that the fire engulfed the whole factory owing to late arrival of the fire fighters despite the fact that Fire Service officials were conveyed the accident instantly.
Abdul Hamid, Station Officer of Ashulia DEPZ Fire Service and Civil Defence, denied the accusation of Abdur Rahim, and said that telling narrow road to the factory caused the delay.
