Plan to build 40,000 flats for insolvent FFs

The government plans to build 40,000 flats in the country to rehabilitate the insolvent freedom fighters and to preserve the graves of those died for the independence of the country.
According to the plan, the size of each five storied flat will be 950 to 1000 square feet. The construction work will begin during the next financial year through the Liberation War Affairs Ministry.
The government will also preserve the graves of 2,938 martyred freedom fighters. Their graves will look like a bed of green carpet. An indirect image of the national flag will emerge in the shape of an easy chair. Every grave will have the combination of
green grasses and marble stones. Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque said recently that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had ordered ensuring housing facilities for the insolvent freedom fighters. The work would begin during 2015-16 fiscal.
According to the plan, residential flats will be constructed like government quarters at the district and the upazila levels. Every building will be of five-storied and each flat will be of 950 to 1000 square feet. In the first year, work will start with a target of constructing 10,000 flats and in the remaining three years 30,000 flats will be constructed across the country.”
Meanwhile, the government has taken initiative to identify and preserve the graves of those who embraced martyrdom in 1`971. Initially, 2938 graves will be preserved. A project has been undertaken to this end, and the work on the list of martyred freedom fighters has begun. . This work is being done through the deputy commissioners.
