Our Correspondent :
A case has been filed against the general secretary of Pirojpur district unit Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and two others for attempting to abduct a bride from a wedding party.
The accused are Pirojpur BCL general secretary Aniruzzaman Anik, BCL activists Abdul Alim and Md Shaon.
The bride’s father Delwar Hossain, president of ward No. 5 of Pirojpur municipality unit Awami League, lodged the case with Pirojpur Sadar Police Station.
Delwar mentioned in the case statement that he arranged his daughter’s Aqd ceremony in his house after Asr prayers on Friday.
BCL leader Anik alongwith the other accused intruded the house before completion of marriage and tried to pick up the bride.
As the accused could not do to so following protests from relative and neighbours, they, later, threatened the groom party.
Later, the groom party left the house halting the marriage, he added.
Meanwhile denying the accusation, Anik’s father and the district Jubo League president Akhteruzzaman Fulu said the case was absolutely false and filed due to political vengeance.
Confirming about the case, the police station officer in-charge Nurul Islam Badal said legal action is being taken.
