A sixth Pirates Of The Caribbean film is on the way, according to the franchise’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer. He even told The Times that he has hopes that Margot Robbie will play the leading part, saying: “We’re talking to Margot Robbie. We are developing two Pirates scripts – one with her, one without.”
Little else is known about the new Pirates movie, which is thought to be in early development stages – and Margot Robbie hasn’t commented on her potential casting, either.
Of course, the previous films also starred the likes of Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Geoffrey Rush, Bill Nighy and Mackenzie Crook. The last movie, Salazar’s Revenge, which was released in 2017, saw Captain Jack come up against an army of ghost sailors led by a scary Javier Bardem as his enemy Captain Salazar. Since Jack Sparrow has been at the centre of every Pirates Of The Caribbean instalment, it might be safe to assume that the sixth film will be a departure from what we’re used to from the swash-buckling movie series – and no doubt the brilliant Margot Robbie will shake things up. The actor has some big roles coming up, including the much-awaited Barbie movie which will see her star as the iconic doll alongside the likes of Ryan Gosling, SNL star Kate McKinnon and Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa and Emma Mackey.
Margot told British Vogue of her titular role: “It comes with a lot of baggage! And a lot of nostalgic connections. But with that come a lot of exciting ways to attack it. People generally hear Barbie and think, ‘I know what that movie is going to be,’ and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they’re like, ‘Oh, well, maybe I don’t.” -Glamour UK
