One pirate named Morshed Alam (35), an accused in 31 fishermen murder case killed early morning yesterday in an encounter with RAB forces in the port city.
RAB-7 Asstt. Director Mahmudul Hasan told that the arms encounter with RAB occurred at Latmoni Pahar of Banigram under Banskhali upazila this early morning. Killed Morshed Alam is a resident of Chambal village of Banskhali and was involved with the piracy in the Bay of Bengal.
RAB media sources said he was shouldering more than two dozens of criminal case including murder case of 31 fishermen.
These fishermen were drowned to dead in Kutubdia area in the Bay earlier. Sensing the presence of a g roup of pirates in Latmoni pahar area , RAB forces conducted raid in the hill and exchanged fire with the pirates where Morshed kllled with bullets.
RAB forces recovered one f oreign made pistol, one 3 Quarter gun , two shooter gun, 19 round bullets and 3 lethal weapons from the spot.
