Pilots are also found committing wrongs like others

A GOOD number of pilots of Biman Bangladesh Airlines have become involved in various crimes at home and abroad. This alarming news was published in a national daily on Friday listing the allegations ranging from gold smuggling, theft, womanizing, forgery and such others which are chasing around two dozen pilots making Biman highly controversial. It is a shame that a pilot was arrested in Dubai for shop lifting of a mobile set and another pilot is in jail for two years on charge of gold smuggling. Police reportedly had to intervene in a quarrel between two pilots over a woman. In another incident a pilot was sent back home from Britain when he tried to cross immigration without passport. Two Biman’s pilots were also detected for using fake documents to get employment in foreign airlines. These are few incidents that showed partial picture of crimes and indecent activates in which some pilots were found engaged.
There is no competent management. In all cases, political connection gives persons scope everywhere to indulge in corruption. We have seen free corruption in every government organisations.
Biman’s Pilots Association (BAPA) protests if any action is taken against any of its members. It is unbelievable the BAPA will support corruption of their pilots and would not care for the honor and dignity of the pilots.
BAPA must be strong to protect the legitimate rights of the pilots and they must not defend wrong causes and undermine their own reputation and that of Biman.
