Again a pilot of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) was killed when a training aircraft crashed in Gozari forest of Madhupur in Tangail district on Friday afternoon.
The deceased Arif Ahmed Dipu, a Wing Commander of BAF, was flying the plane at the time of crash and the only person aboard, said Muhammad Reza-Ul Karim Shammee, Assistant Director of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The F-7 aircraft crashed into a Gozari forest inside Telki Firing Range in Rasulpur area of Madhupur around 3:00pm during an air exercise and burst into flames, leaving the pilot dead on the spot.
A rescue operation continues to recover the debris of the plane in the area till filing the report in the evening, ISPR official added, but could not immediately confirm the reason of the accident.
Wishing anonymity, an officer of Arunkhola police outpost said, the plane burst into flames after it crashed into a Gozari forest inside Telki Firing Range.
Madhupur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Ramendra Nath Biswas said that Air Force was conducting an exercise in the sky of the Arankhola union from November 22.
Fire Service Officer Delwar said that the fire was doused soon. The victim’s body became deformed in the accident. The aircraft also broke into pieces, he added.
Earlier on July 1, two pilots were killed in the crash
of a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) training aircraft in Sadar upazila of Jashore district. The deceased were Squadron Leader Md Serajul Islam and Squadron Leader Enayet Kabir Polash.
