Pigeon farming changes lot of Mehedi Hasan

Only a pair of pigeons helped established once unemployed young man Mehedi Hasan of Jhenaidah purchasing lands and house in the town in four years. Now he is self-helped. Not only that some other young men in the area were encouraged in nursing the pigeon as a part of their income generation actions.
Mehedi Hasan of Korapara area adjuscent to Jhenaidah municipality area said, he was helpless and hopeless as he was leading an uncertain time to earn his bread. To realize one of his hobby, he purchased a pair of King Variety of pigeons from Kataban area in Dhaka about four years back. The pair offered another pair of the kids within a few weeks that he had sold for Taka 6,000.
The sale proceeds for the figure knocked him and he had decided nursing the pigeon on commercial basis. Not wasting the time anymore, the young man had established structures on his house courtyard. The farm was titled as Mehedi Pigeon Farm where hundreds of pigeon are being nursed.
Hasan said, he was nursing at least 50 varieties of pigeons including some costly ones like Pakistani Blue Seraji, Black King, Red King, Yellow King, White King, Sutting, Shallow, Nana Parvin, Lion and Highpiller. Further, Australina King, Bombai King, Loton and local Variety Sowachandan were most popular.
According to Mehedi Hasan, he primarily collected the varaieties from Dhaka, Pabna, Meherpur, Natore, Barishal and some other districts to enrich the farm. He had thrown the information about his Mehedi Pigeon Farm on the social media face book which spread the matter faster. Huge number of people has been contacting him for many issues like nursing, selling and others.
Sharmin Hasan, the wife of Mehedi Hasan said, she was very impressed when Hasan started nursing the pigeons at her homestead. She takes care the pigeons with her love and affection to grow them in a short time. The farming of pigeon had strengthened the socio-economic state in their family as well as society.
She could feel proud with her involvement in the income generation and social actions together. A pair of pigeons could ensure Taka 2,000 to 42,000 in a year when they were grown.
