The three-day foundation training on journalism ended at Chittagong Press Club (CPC) auditorium yesterday.
Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) and Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) jointly organized the training programme for the journalists of Chittagong.
CUJ President Reaz Hayder Chowdhury presided over the inaugural session while Chittagong University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury chaired the concluding session as chief guest.
PIB Director General Shah Alamgir, vice president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Shahidul Alam, acting CPC President Abul Monsure, general secretary of CPC Shuklal Das, CUJ General Secretary Mohammad Ali, BFUJ Joint Secretary Tapan Chakoroborti, general secretary of TV Journalists Association Shahnowaz Riton and PIB Workshop Coordinator Zilhaj Uddin Nipun, spoke on the occasion, among others, as special guests.
Dr Iftekhar Uddin said the mass media is like the mirror of society. It plays a very important role in creating awareness among the people.
“The mass media also plays a pivotal role in creating human resources side by side with providing information to students, teachers and researchers,” he added.
Later, the chief guest distributed certificates among the participants.
