Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim called upon the newly recruited young doctors to provide healthcare services to the rural people efficiently.
He said this on Thursday while speaking at a function in connection with joining of 6,151 doctors of the 33rd BCS examination at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city.
Health Secretary MM Niaz Uddin presided over the function while former health minister Professor Dr AFM Ruhal Haque, State minister for Health Jahid Malek, Director General of Health Directorate Professor Dr Din Mohammad Nurul Haque and Secretary General of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Prof Dr Iqbal Arslan spoke.
Nasim said the government has appointed the doctors aimed at fulfilling the election pledge of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to reach healthcare services to the doorsteps of all.
“We want each and every rural people get better healthcare services staying home,” he said.
The newly recruited physicians will be appointed by next week, he said, expressing the hope that there will be no crisis of doctors in hospitals after their appointment.
