‘Physically challenged children need proper education & training’

Government officials while visiting a school said the intellectually challenged, autistic and physically challenged children would not be burden on the society if they are provided with proper education and training.
“The intellectually disabled and autistic children could do the same as able children to contribute to national advancement if they are provided with proper education and training,” said Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services (DSS) Md Abdur Razzaque.
Razzaque viewed this recently while exchanging views with teachers, students, guardians and civil society members during his visit to ‘Chhawla Nabuharia Buddhi Protibondhi O Autistic School’ in Pirgachha upazila in Rangpur. Pirgachha Upazila Social Service Officer Md Enamul Haque, Headmaster of the school Md Mizanur Rahman and Chairman of the School Managing Committee Mahbubar Rahman, among others, addressed the occasion. Abdur Razzaque said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her internationally reputed daughter Saima Wazed Putul are working relentlessly to turn the autistic and disabled children into human resources for ensuring their welfare and development.
He asked teachers of the school to ensure their timely attendance to classes and educate the intellectually disabled, mentally retarded and disabled children with love, compassion and sincerity to transform them into worthy citizens.
