The physical work on the country’s first elevated expressway from Hazrat Shahajalal International Airport to Kutubkhali of Dhaka-Chittagong highway will begin on August 16, said road transport and bridge minister Obaidul Quader here yesterday.
He said the land for the project will be handed over to the construction firm on that day. This decision was taken during a meeting with chairman of the construction firm Ital-Thai Company Premchai Karnasuta. Bangladesh Ambassador Saida Muna Tasneem was present at the meeting held at a hotel in Bangkok, said a press release of the road transport and bridge ministry.
The Dhaka Elevated Expressway will be constructed under public-private- partnership initiative. A 4-member delegation led by road transport and bridge minister left Dhaka Saturday night for Japan. During the Japan tour, Obaidul Quader will hold meetings with Japanese transport minister, JICA and business people, the press release added.
