Photojourno Peu passes away

Veteran photojournalist Azizur Rahman Peu died of cardiac arrest at his Dhanmondi residence in the city early Tuesday.
He was 49. Family sources said, Peu breathed his last at 3.00am. He left behind his wife, one daughter, one son and a host of
relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. Hailing from Rangpur, Azizur Rahman Peu was founder director of DrikNEWS, a Bangladesh-based news photo agency.
He started his career in photojournalism with the Bangla daily Ittefaq in 1988. Azizur Rahman Peu, who also taught photography, greatly contributed to the country’s photojournalism during his profession in the Ittefaq, the daily Sokaler Khabor and at last the Daily Observer.
His first namaj-e-janaza was held at Pachshim Dhanmondi Mosque at around 11.00am and the second janaza was held on the Jatiya Press Club premises after Juhr prayer. His body will be kept at BIRDEM mortuary, family sources said. Azizur Rahman Peu will be buried at his family graveyard in Rangpur on October 20 after his brothers and sisters reach home from abroad.
