To get fresh vegetable production, the authority concern suggests the peasants to use pheromone trap in their crop land in all unions of Dupchanchia upazila in Bogra district.
The farmers have responded intensely to cultivate the different sort of vegetable using the method as it’s proved them more lucrative and effective. The method is speeding rapidly across the all shortage corner of the district.
The peasants get fresh and chemical free crops and they are saving production cost, said sub-assistance agriculture officer Azizur Rahman. He also urges to the farmers to use the method both in rabi and kharip season.
“I have cultivated some 13 decimal of brinjal applying pheromone trap and save minimum Tk 1000,” said farmer Aman Ullah, 22, at Damkuri village under the upazila.
In recent visit the correspondent found the farmers are setting up the trap in the corner of their vegetable filed. They are seen satisfied over getting good result in Dupchanchia, Kahaloo, Adamdighi, Nandigram, Sonatola, Sariakandi, Gabtoly, Shajhanpur and sadar upazilas of the district.
“I use the method in my 13 decimal of bitter gourd cropland this season and get a good result,” said farmer Polash Chdra, 45, at Chamrul village under Dupchanchia upazila of the district.
Farmer Asadul Islam said, he got a noticeable production last year as he would apply pheromone trap in his cucumber crop land. He gets emphasis on the method to get a fresh crop this season.
Upazila Krishi officer Golam Rabbay said, we encourage the farmers to use the method instead of spraying pesticide to get a good production every season. The farmers have also shown more interest to bring more land under the method, he added.
